Attendance: There were 134 members and their family members present for the annual banquet. Total attendance was 155 people.

Guests and visitors: Club guests included widows of past presidents, Ruby Nash Davis, Vera Ramsey and Mary Jean Gaston; Youth Exchange Student Taka Sato and host families, Gary and Jane Windham, Tina Seals, and Woody, Davis, Wheeler and McKay Richardson. Tom and Karen Koch Cathcart, host parents of our short-term RYE student also attended.

Banquet pleasures: Social hour attendees were entertained by Tony Derrico, TV and motion picture music arranger, now from Columbus.

The meal was topped off by two “Make Dreams Real” Rotary cakes with ice cream.

The banquet committee with Gerry Orgler, chair, included Pat Colwick, Cecelia Cook, Dinah Jordan and Judy Webb.

TAX NOTE

Our contributions for charitable purposes last year were $137 per member plus the personal payments for Rotary Foundation Paul Harris Fellowships. Most members will have a contribution deduction for $237.Exceptions will be company paid memberships and members who made less than the $25 per quarter for PHF.

DISTRICT MEETING REGISTRATION

Rotarians who attend the district conference as voting delegates will be reimbursed for registration, travel and lodging. The district business will be on the morning of April 18. Based on our membership, our club is eligible to send 8 electors.

DUES DRAFT

The board of directors reminds members that quarterly dues payments can be handled by bank draft. This mechanism is a good way to avoid delinquent payments. See Nellah Taylor, treasurer, or Jeff Read, budget and finance chair, for details.

Pinks Dudley, long-time community servant, is honored for many activities; of note is the naming of the most recent Habitat for Humanity House in her honor. BETWEEN THE LIONS

Help a 4– or 5-year-old get a head start on learning. Volunteer as a reader for our literacy project. We read to the children for 15 minutes at First Presbyterian’s childcare center on Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. and at the Emerson Family School on Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. You may read once or many times. Whatever you do benefits the children.

Tell David Vanlandingham or Brent Fountain when you can help.
